ENS 440 - Topics: Environmental Studies - Topic: Extinction of Species
Campus: Springfield
Description:
Intensive study of a current environmental issue. Description of topic for a given semester will be stated in the course schedule.
Special Instructions:
The process of extinction results in no more members of a species being present. It is a natural process among species. However, the recent acceleration of extinction rates due to human-driven causes is concerning. We will discuss differences between natural background and human-accelerated rates and causes of extinction, why we should care about extinction of species, and what this means for long-term persistence of Earth-s species including humans.
