HIS 473 - Russia: Revol to New Cold War

This course examines Russian culture, society, and diplomacy from the revolutions of 1917 to the present. Topics include the origins of revolution, Leninism, Stalinism, World War II, the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the Yeltsin and Putin presidencies. The course will examine Russia-s complex relationship with the West and consider why a new Cold War ensued after the first conflict had ended.
