RST 570 A - Cultural Aspects of Tourism

Description:
Develops an advanced understanding of relationships between tourists and the toured, including in-depth knowledge of the phenomenon of tourism and its consequences for individuals and societies. Examines the complexity of movement of peoples across cultural boundaries, coupled with theories related to authenticity, modernity, image creation, social justice, diversity, and representation of social, racial and ethnic groups. Course Information: Same as ANTH 570. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
Special Instructions:
This is an asynchronous online course with some synchronous meetings with guest speakers. This course will meet with undergrad course RST 350 Tourism and Culture. Course will use Illinois Compass for all course instruction and interaction. You will receive an email from the instructor with specific directives.
