Discussion of current events and political dynamics in East Asia, with a focus on Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and North Korea. We will explore institutional and historical contexts of East Asian politics, compare the diverging state-society relations in East Asian countries, and understand the role of states in promoting the economic and political development of this region.
