Considers music education research within a wider political and social context and addresses some of the dilemma and choices faced when designing and conducting research. Explores different approaches and considers theoretical and methodological issues relevant to the design and conduct of music education research. Students are expected to design a research project that will make a distinct contribution to knowledge and afford evidence of originality, either by the discovery of new evidence, or by the exercise of independent critical judgments. Course Information: Prerequisite: MUS 533 or equivalent, or consent of instructor.
