Section Title - The Everyday Making of the European Parliament and Parliamentarians This proseminar offers a rare opportunity to learn about and assess the work of the European Parliament (EP) through a series of meetings (conducted virtually) with former EP Members. Students will prepare in advance for the meetings by reading topical materials about the EP as well as how social scientists study experts and their worlds. Discussions will explore the negotiation of issues such as human rights, the environment, public health, the economy, and foreign affairs in Europe. The course will be of special interest to students in law, political science, and business, as well students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences interested in the study of institutions and expertise. No pre-requisites.
