Advanced Scandinavian languages instruction. Course Information: 1 to 4 undergraduate hours. 1 to 4 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 9 undergraduate or 9 graduate hours if topics vary. Prerequisite: SCAN 104 or equivalent as approved by instructor.

Special Instructions:

GER 465/SCAN 494 - Spring 2020. Topic: History of the Germanic Languages. In this course, we will explore the historical development of the Germanic languages, from Proto-Indo-European to the present day. We will discuss regional, cultural, and social aspects of languages variation and change, with a primary focus on German and the Scandinavian languages. The course will be taught in English, though knowledge of a Germanic languages (other than Modern English) will be helpful.
