Topic: Catastrophe in Modern Times Description: In this interdisciplinary course, we will explore -catastrophe and the modern imagination,- pairing fiction with non-fiction and analyses of catastrophe with the politics of its representation. Topics will include millennialism, revolution, colonialism and famine, war, the Great Depression, genocide, the Great Recession, global warming, and pandemics.
