Topics such as imperialism, holocaust and genocide, war and revolution, environmental history, gender history, biography, intellectual history. Students may take additional sections for credit, but must study different topics each time. Course Information: May be repeated if topics vary. Students may register in more than one section per term.
Special Instructions:
This class focuses on the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. Students will learn how to use digital archives to do research, while also exploring topics like: the oil economy in the Gulf, trade and cultural exchange between the Arab world, East Africa, and India; human rights violations; and how museums and cultural heritage villages help understand how communities make sense of rapid change. No previous knowledge of Middle East history is required.
