Examines the intersections of rhetoric and performance in stage plays from various eras, including Classical Greece, Elizabethan England, and 20th Century America. Discussions/activities focus on the rhetoric of performance, the performance of rhetoric, rhetorical techniques of each historical era, the persuasive powers of performance, the use of language in character development, and performance techniques used with language. Course requirements include reading and viewing plays.
