Introduction of basic concepts in statistics with emphasis on the application of statistical methods in social work research. Topics include: descriptive statistics, probability theory and distributions, point and interval estimation, hypothesis testing, central tendency, variability, independence, contrasts, correlation and regression, non-parametrics, concepts of levels of measurements, and statistical vs. practical significance. Priority will be given to Social Work majors. Course Information: Credit is not given for SOCW 225 if credit for a college level introductory statistics course has already been earned.
