IS 471 BOG - Instruc Strat Tech Info Prof
Provides an introduction to learning theories and instructional methods used in a variety of information settings, including libraries, archives, museums, online, and educational environments. Includes an overview of theoretical and applied research and discusses relevant issues and concepts. Students will have an opportunity to design and present an instructional program. Course Information: 3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours.
The difference between 2 and 4 hours is in the assignments. There are two major assignments in the course - an Instructional Design Project to design a one-hour workshop, which everyone does, and a Teaching Demonstration, where students design and teach a short session (7 minutes), receive feedback, and write a reflection, which only two-hour students complete. Participation varies between the two groups, although what that looks like varies by semester. Everyone does the core readings and attends all classes so that they get a basic grounding in learning theory and pedagogy. Graduate student questions may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
