Campus: Urbana-Champaign
Description:
See Class Schedule for topics. Course Information: Approved for Letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in the same or separate terms to a maximum of 6 hours.
Special Instructions:
We will examine how geographers, environmental historians and sociologists succeed in crossing disciplinary boundaries to conceptualize global environmental problems and sustainable solutions. The way these problems are formulated and understood is of enormous importance for their equitable and effective resolution. By the end of this course, students will be able to identify key environment-development problems, points of conflict and debate surrounding them, the key actors involved, and the connections between these issues and other global political-ecological relations.
