Studies the social and cultural life in Greece during the classical period.
Special Instructions:
This course provides an introduction to the social, intellectual, and cultural history of ancient Greek civilization from its origins through the end of the 5th century BCE. Lessons/lectures for the course will be posted to a Moodle site for students to complete on a week-by-week basis. (E.g., all week 1 materials will be available starting Monday, August 24. Quizzes and discussion board assignments for that week must be completed by 11:59 PM Central Time on Sunday, August 30. Week 2 materials will be posted on August 31, with any assignments due by 11:59 PM on September 6. And so on. There will be no required, synchronous lectures. The instructor will conduct a weekly, synchronous Q&A session on Wednesday at 10 AM, but attendance is not mandatory. There will, however, be three tests over the course of the semester (specific dates still TBD, though the third test will take place at the time scheduled for the course final exam).
