No professional credit. Approved for Letter and S/U grading.
This thesis seminar course is designed as a writing workshop to guide students through the planning and writing stages of an early research project, dissertation, or other scholarly research. Through structured activities and targeted readings, students will develop a draft of their research proposal (e.g. the first three chapters of the dissertation). This course requires students to devote considerable time in reading, writing, revising, and reflecting on segments of the proposal draft. Moreover, students will act as critical friends for their peers by providing feedback to fellow students- proposal drafts. During this process, students will develop an appreciation of scholarly practice and prepare for the research mile stones in their graduate programs.
