First half course with dates: 12-14-2020 to 1-8-2021. Requires Departmental Approval. Course Topic: Ethical dilemmas and decision making in the criminal justice system are daily occurrences for criminal justice professionals. The use of discretion by criminal justice professionals impacts offenders, victims and the general public. This course will examine the ethical dilemmas and decision making processes of police officers, prosecutors, judges, and correctional officials. This course will provide students with the opportunity to take on the role of a criminal justice professional and analyze how they would address various ethical issues and concerns throughout the criminal justice system.
