IS 584 IFO - Adv Topics in Ethics & Privacy - Intellectual Freedom & Censors
Variety of newly developed and advanced topics courses within the field of ethics and privacy, intended to augment the existing Information Sciences curricula. Course Information: 2 to 4 graduate hours. No professional credit. May be repeated in the same or separate semesters to a maximum of 16 hours, if topics vary.
Examines intellectual freedom issues throughout the United States and the world. Approaches intellectual freedom as an ethical issue based in interpretations of the First Amendment and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. The course encourages information professionals to view commitment to intellectual freedom as a core professional value and gives students the opportunity to develop skills and strategies needed to navigate censorship controversies in the workplace.
