ENG 480 - Topics in Genre Study - Topic: American Gothic

Scrutiny of such genres as science fiction, mystery, the Gothic novel, literary biography, film, drama, lyric poetry, and the long poem. Course Information: May be repeated if topics vary. Students may register in more than one section per term. Prerequisites: C in ENG 303.

Special Instructions:

Prerequisite: C or better in ENG 303. Requires Departmental Approval. Study gothic texts from throughout American history, learning about the features of the gothic genre/how those features reveal the cultural concerns of the times in which they were produced. Have the opportunity to explore the intellectual potential of the gothic genre and hone your critical and creative approaches to writing.
