IS 590 IBO - Advanced Problems in IS - Inquiry-based Learning
Variety of newly developed and special topics courses on different aspects of the information sciences intended to augment the existing curriculum, offered as sections of IS 590. An introduction to ways of thinking about learning as it occurs in both formal and informal settings. Students read about, observe, and engage in interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning. They explore the creation of environments in which learners are actively engaged in making meaning through personal and collaborative inquiry. The course also examines the impact of new media and cultural differences. It also considers the history of inquiry-based instruction, and challenges, including those related to management, assessment, and the acquisition of basic skills.
