SOCW 502 A - Brief Mot Interventions SU

Description:
This course prepares social workers to deliver brief interventions that build motivation for change among individuals that use substances. Students participate in hands-on skill development activities for two empirically supported treatments, Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) and Motivational Interviewing. Students are expected to reach beginning competency in delivering these two clinical models. Course Information: 4 graduate hours. No professional credit. Prerequisite: SOCW 400. MSW: Social Work - UIUC.
