This course provides an overview of public policy with respect to the use and treatment of companion animals in the United States. Current and alternative policies are considered in terms of their effectiveness in improving or otherwise altering the treatment of companion animals. The influences of animal protection organizations, consumer groups, politicians, the scientific community, and other stakeholders on the development and enforcement of policies are examined in detail. Course Information: Prerequisite: ANSC 250 Class Schedule Information: Junior standing required.
