Women Writers of the Arab World will investigate the diversity of writing by women in and of the Arab world and Diasporas, the impact of colonial and postcolonial structures, wars and occupations, and globalization are evident in many of the writing from the region. Women writers have historically addressed a diversity of issues including identity, nationalism, religion, gender and sexuality, family, violence and other forms of oppression. Whether writing fiction or non-fiction writing has been historically an important avenue for women, including feminists, to present their social critique and articulate their vision for a different world.
