Topics include sampling distributions, point estimation, including maximum likelihood estimation and the application of criteria such as consistency, unbiasedness, and minimum variance; interval estimation, Baynesian estimation, statistical hypothesis testing, including power functions, Type I and Type II errors, Newman-Pearson lemma, and likelihood ratio tests. Course Information: Prerequisite: MAT 431 with grade of C or better.
