How to Apply

To apply to the ERM program, please submit the UIC graduate application and then submit the required supplemental application materials. Each step in this process is described below.

Step 1: Begin the UIC Graduate Application

1a) Submit Graduate Application

After you have reviewed the admission deadlines and requirements, visit the UIC Graduate Application page and choose the link “Apply Non-degree & Campus Certificate.” You will create a log in and then complete and submit this portion of the application.

1b) Pay the Application Fee

You’ll be asked to pay the non-refundable application fee of $60 when you submit the application.

Step 2: Submit Supplemental Materials

A few days after you submit your application, you will receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt of your application and instructing you to log in to the system to begin uploading your supplemental materials. These materials are listed individually below, and can be submitted all at once or as you gather them, in any order. All documents must be submitted in pdf format, except TOEFL scores (international students only), which must be submitted by the testing agency.

2a) Submit Unofficial Transcripts (Official Transcripts Sent Directly to You)

Upload unofficial transcripts from all institutions at which you took undergraduate and graduate coursework (with the exception of UIC transcripts, which will be added for you by the UIC Office of Admissions). An unofficial transcript is defined as an official transcript that has been sent to you, either on paper or electronically, by the Registrar’s Office of an institution, which you then upload into the application system. Online academic histories and advising/degree audit documents obtained through student web portals cannot be accepted. You must submit all transcripts; UIC does not make exceptions because of the age or nature of the course or degree work. Note: Please do not have official transcripts sent to UIC.
If you are an international applicant or have taken foreign coursework, please refer to the foreign credential guidelines on the International Admission Requirements Web page.

2b) Submit the UIC College of Education Application

In addition to the UIC application, please submit the required College of Education application.

2c) Submit a Goals Statement

Submit a goals statement discussing your professional goals and overall objectives for the program.

2d) Submit the ERM Certificate Program Course Selection Sheet

Complete the course selection sheet and submit it with your goals statement.

2e) Submit TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson’s PTE AcademicScores (International Applicants Only)

TOEFL scores must be submitted directly from the Educational Testing Service to the UIC Office of Admissions using institutional code 1851.
IELTS scores should be uploaded through the application system.
Pearson’s PTE Academic scores must be reported directly to UIC from Pearson by selecting “University of Illinois at Chicago” from the institution selection menu.
Note: You may qualify for a waiver of the English competency requirement (TOEFL/IELTS Scores) if you can provide the following:

  • Evidence of attendance at a U.S. institution for at least 2 years of full-time study.
  • A letter from a U.S. employer stating that you are proficient in the use of English and that you have been employed at the establishment full-time for at least 1 year.
  • Two years’ education or one year’s employment in a country where English is the only official language, e.g. the United Kingdom, Australia or Canada (excluding Quebec).
