Description: Global Studies in Education (GSE) Online is a web-based Master's degree in Educational Policy Studies at the University of Illinois. The program is designed for educators at all levels interested in learning and thinking more critically about issues of globalization and education and in incorporating international perspectives into their curriculum and pedagogy. In addition, prospective students in other related fields are encouraged to join our program and provide fresh perspectives on these important educational topics.We welcome in particular applicants from outside the United States. This is intended to facilitate dialogue among American teachers and those living and working in other parts of the world.
This Online education program requires the completion of eight courses (32 credits), taken part-time over two years, and is structured around six themes: curriculum; educational policy; learning and classroom management; technology; identity and culture; and organizational change. Students will also have an opportunity to participate in a four-week study tour abroad, and to conduct a school-based project.

Program Cost(s):
Registration for the GSE courses is handled by the Office of Academic Outreach. Tuition costs and services provided to off-campus students are different from those offered to on-campus students. Tuition and fees per online course for the 2009-2010 academic year are $1,416. There is no out of state tuition. All students pay the same amount.
