Online Secondary (grades 6-12) Math Certification

Program URL: http://www.uis.edu/teponline/

Campus: Springfield

Number of Required Campus Visits: 2 per semester

Program Type: Certificate

Description:
UIS has an online program for Online Secondary (grades 6-12) Math Certification. The program will become a national model for addressing the shortage of mathematics teachers by enabling those who aspire to teach with the opportunity to make a mid-career change.

The program, to be offered by the College of Education and Human Services, will make graduates 'fully qualified' under No Child Left Behind, the law that by the year 2005 requires all teachers to be 'highly qualified' in their discipline. Candidates interested in earning a Illinois teaching certificate will major in Mathematics and minor in Secondary Education.

Opportunities are available for students beginning their college career as well as for those seeking a career change or additional endorsements on their present teaching certificate.

For questions concerning the online certification, or to request more information, email Tyler Tanaka
