Description:
Become a Master in Teacher Leadership. This graduate degree will provide practicing teachers with the opportunity to earn a high quality master's degree that could be used as a step toward state and/or National Board Certification through an interactive Internet-based series of courses. The focus of this degree to meet the needs of place-bound teachers in Illinois and throughout the United States who wish to take positions of leadership within their schools or districts, but who are not interested in the principalship. Emphasis is placed on interactive participation, with an emphasis on independent work that will link the students' coursework to their professional growth. Illinois certified teachers completing the program are eligible to apply for a teacher leadership endorsement to be added to their certificate through Illinois State Board of Education.

Admission Requirement(s): Students must submit the following information: proof of successful admission to the Graduate College; completed Application for Admission to the online Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership; original (signed and sealed) copies of undergraduate and graduate transcript indicating a minimum 2.5 grade-point average for conditional admission and 3.0 for full admission.

Prerequisite(s): Students must have permission from the MTL Coordinator to register for any class.

Technical Requirement(s): To participate in online courses, students must have access to a computer with the minimum configuration of: Windows 95, 98, or NT*, Pentium 90* or above, 32 MB of RAM or more, 28.8 kbps modem or faster*, Sound card & speakers. (*or MAC equivalent).
