Program URL: http://mtl.math.uiuc.edu/

Campus: Urbana-Champaign

Number of Required Campus Visits: 0

Program Type: Certificate

Admission Deadline: None

Description:
Math Teacher Link is an online professional development program for teachers of Mathematics at the 9-14 grade levels. All of the courses can be taken for Continuing Education Units. Some of the course modules can be taken for graduate credit from the University of Illinois. Several of the courses can be applied to an online Master's Degree in Educational Technology.

Admission Requirement(s): Admission to the Graduate College of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is not required unless you want to earn an advanced degree from the University of Illinois. Graduate credit earned in the Math Teacher Link program prior to enrollment in a graduate degree program may be applied toward degree requirements.

Restriction(s): Students cannot be enrolled in a UIUC extramural course and a UIUC on-campus course simultaneously because of current UIUC computer enrollment and tuition structures. However, it is possible to accommodate teachers who need to take extramural and campus courses at the same time by timing the extramural registration properly. Teachers who need to take MTL modules and UIUC campus courses at the same time should discuss their individual needs with Marlene Wentworth at (217) 244-2030.

Technical Requirement(s): Hardware requirements: PC compatible computer running Windows 95 or NT or a Mac running System 7.5 or higher; connection to the Internet via a modem or dedicated hardware; Netscape browser 3.0 or higher and decompression software. Some modules have additional requirements.

Other Requirement(s): Students may enroll in these courses without being admitted to a degree program. They should have the necessary math background for the subject matter.

Program Cost(s):

Graduate tuition for 2009–2010 will be $354 per credit hour. The fee for CEUs is $150 each. The number of credit hours and CEUs is included in each course description.
