UIS Hiring Tenure-Track Philosopher to Teach Online Classes

UIS is advertising a tenure-track philosopher to teach online classes. This may be the highest ranking institution to date to hire a philosopher to teach largely online. Job description is as follows:

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, SPRINGFIELD, IL. Asst. Prof., tenure-track, beginning fall semester, 2004, pending final budgetary approval. 6 courses/year, primarily undergraduate. Usual non-teaching duties. AOS: CORE (epistemology, ontology, philosophy of mind, or philosophy of science), AOC: Open. The new candidate needs to be able and willing to teach about 50% of his/her load on campus and 50% online but no prior technical knowledge required. Ph.D. prior to appointment. Some summer work available. EO/AAE.
