UIC College of Engineering Launches New Certificate
Programs
The UIC College of Engineering is Pleased to Announce the Following New Certificate
Programs-
Certificate in Engineering Law and Management
This program enhances students’ knowledge of legal principles affecting
the engineering profession and intellectual property laws. Topics include basic
contract, tort principles, and environmental law. Also, patent, copyright,
trade secret, mask work, cyber-squatting legal and procedural principles; protection
for novel software, biotech inventions, business methods, and trademark protection
for domain names. Courses include:
• Engineering Law
• Engineering Management
• Intellectual Property Law
Certificate in Wireless Communication Technology
Courses will cover a range of topics from radio technology fundamentals to
propagation models to the generic wireless mobile network. Also covered are
data communications, broadband and wireless mobile multimedia network among
others. Courses include:
• Wireless Communication Networks
• Advanced Wireless Communication Networks
• Wireless Data
Certificate in Electromagnetics Technology
Designed to aid professional engineering graduates update their skills. Students
will learn about static and quasi-static fields, electrostatic discharge, and
polarization. Will deal with issues such as radiation from antennas and charged
particles, as well as, radiation and atomic systems. Other topics will cove
laser systems and EMC requirements for electronic systems. Courses include:
• Quasi Static Electric & Magnetic Fields
• Electromagnetic Compatibility
• Electromagnetic Field Theory or Optical Electronics
